With Kellen Clemens on the sideline due to a shoulder injury (the Jets blamed it on his ribs), the Jets turned to their former starter Chad Pennington to lead them to a victory at Foxboro for the second year in a row.
In their first rematch since the infamous "Spygate" game, in which the Patriots were found guilty by the league office for cheating, the Jets used a number of different looks to confuse the heavily favored Patriots. Using Brad Smith at the quarterback position, New York used a variety of option plays rarely seen on the professional level. They executed one of them perfectly, leading to a 50+ yard run for running back Leon Washington.
Probable-MVP Tom Brady had his worst game of the season, going 14-27 for 140 yards, no touchdowns and one interception.
